Shipping accompanies him all the way home

Shipping accompanies him all the way home

Early, when hans schnos drinks his coffee and looks out the window "i know how the store runs", and in the evenings, he does have a chat with those who sail the rough waterways from the danube to the north sea every day. The man from limbach has been in the service of the federal waterway and shipping administration for 50 years, and in particular he is the head of the control center for the locks from viereth to ottendorf.

Officially, the head of the department, heinrich schoppmann, acknowledged the "excellent work done" by hans schnos and presented the certificate of thanks.
He remembers his first day on 1. September 1967 hans schnos remembers well. The 14-year-old's apprenticeship as a hydraulic engineer at the schweinfurt waterways and shipping authority (WSA) began on a floating dredger in schweinfurt harbor, where he had to help remove rust. But, he says with a smile, the weather was right and so were his colleagues – the cordial contact continues to this day.
In 1972 the civil service training followed, hans schnos came as a young man to all locks on the main between frankfurt and nurnberg on the main-danube canal. From 1974, he was a lock keeper in limbach, and in 1990 he became head of operations at the knetzgau lock.

Hit-and-run with a tractor: junior has to do it for six months

The 100-hectare farm will have to manage for six months without the senior manager on the tractor. The farmer had driven away after an accident and received a penalty order for it. Since the driver’s license was revoked for six months in addition to a manageable fine for leaving the scene of an accident without permission, he appealed – without success.

"The junior will have to take over for six months", said judge patricia finkenberger at the end of a hearing in the district court. In this discussion, the farmer’s attempt to at least keep his driving license for the tractor failed.

Learning from the bees

Learning from the bees

The beekeepers had not expected such a crowd. At the inauguration of the educational bee house at the new location in the eichenweg, the door and windows had to remain open for a while on sunday so that the people standing outside could watch the whole event. The president of the association, stefan ruppenstein, recalled the beginnings and the first supporters of this station, so important for the education and training of beekeepers, which had to move several times. He thanked mayor andreas hugerich and andreas eberlein of the city’s real estate office for their support in finding a site that would be permanent. Now the best conditions could be created to ensure the preservation of the bee colonies, which are threatened by varroa mites and viruses, pesticides and a changed environment with less blood diversity. Without the beekeeper they could not survive. Together with the farmers, they want to improve the structures, said ruppenstein.

The need to work together for nature was also emphasized by other speakers. Anton reinhardt from the nature conservation association described the honey bee as a sympathetic bearer, and since the referendum last year, in which it was the focus, something has changed. This should not be seen as conservationists and farmers going against each other. We want to talk and act together – just as harmoniously as we see three generations united in the small room of the educational beehive at this inauguration ceremony. "The bee can teach us something." the beekeepers’ association makes a valuable contribution to helping people get to know and appreciate these smallest beneficial animals in the world.

City from the 3d printer

city from the 3d printer

The area around the old town hall in bamberg has recently been enriched by a new attraction: in the presence of mayor andreas stark (SPD), a three-dimensional metal model of the town was unveiled on the uphill side of the upper bridge. It represents the area of the old town hall with the surrounding buildings on 70 by 40 centimeters. The city model is thanks to the rotary club bamberg – schloss geyersworth, which initiated its creation as a rotarian presidential project 2018/2019.

The special thing about it is that, unlike the bronze casting in front of the town hall at geyersworth castle, which rotary also donated in 2005/2006, the new town model comes from the printer! With the company "hofmann your maker of possibilities" a partner was found in lichtenfels, which is a leader in the field of 3-D metal printing, reports the city press office. Layer by layer, a three-dimensional representation of the historical area around the bamberg landmark was created. Even the famous little angel’s leg peeping out of the facade of the town hall is worked out in the process.

Towers, castle gates, stairs, columns – the new hupfburg of the kronach district youth association truly lives up to its name. While many bouncy castles are often just a rough flat cushion of air with no particular shape, this one is actually shaped like a castle. It is closed on all sides, has high walls and a roof, so that the little ones can play safely and use the bouncy castle even in light rain.

To the delight of the children of the vacation care center and their caregivers, the kupser school was chosen as the official handover location. So the boys and girls were the very first to enjoy a test hopping – an offer that was enthusiastically accepted.
