Happy 85th., mrs. Mauerer!

Elfriede mauerer, nee barthel from schernau celebrated her 85th birthday on wednesday. Birthday. Numerous well-wishers, including the children gisela, petra and volker, their spouses as well as seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, attended the ceremony. The congratulations of the city of dettelbach brought third mayor manfred berger (our picture).

"We weren’t rich, but I had a good time in my youth," says the jubilarian. Her life was marked by a lot of work and the care for her family. Together with her husband rudolf, who came from lodz, poland, and died in 2007, she spent 60 happy years of marriage. Not only her home town of schernau, but also dettelbach is close to elfriede maurer’s heart.

Here she worked for decades as a waitress in the catering trade. That was the jubilarian but also in other communities. All in all, elfriede maurer estimates, she did her duty as a waitress in about 30 taverns. "That was a wonderful time that i didn’t want to miss," the jubilarian looks back. She also had a lot of fun during her active time with the singing club dettelbach. They also actively supported SC schernau. For years, she made her labor available at the sports center here.

And in general: club life in schernau has a high priority for the jubilarian. As well as an intact family life. "I have great kids, that’s important for me," reports maurer.

The 85-year-old spends the day doing needlework and guessing crosswords. Spab also prepares the visit of the great-grandchildren and grandchildren. And last but not least she likes to listen to folk music. Text/photo: brown
